Obituary for Frank Viertlbeck

Frank Viertlbeck
Frank J. Viertlbeck, 85, of Maumee, OH and formerly of Toledo, OH, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017. He was born April 13, 1932, in Toledo, the fourth son of Joseph and Grace Viertlbeck. Frank worked at Folgers Meat Packing, after high school, then worked 16 years, for Buckeye Brewing Co. After Buckeye closed he went to work for the City of Toledo, in the streets division, for 23 years, retiring in 1994. Frank enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He was a member of the Bavarian Sports Club and played on their soccer team. Frank was also one of the founding fathers of the G.A.F. Society and a member of the Bavarian Benevolent Society. He was a former member of St. Agnes Church before they closed and presently a member of Regina Coeli Church.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Beverly (Geoffrion) Viertlbeck; Daughter, Karen (Raymond) Barker; son, David (Kelly) Viertlbeck; grandchildren, Heather (Rod) Bauer, Timothy (Jen) Barker, Kelly (Jay) Sockman, Joseph (Jenni) Barker and Kristen (Dana) Benner; 13 ½ great-grandchildren; and his brother, Anton “Don” Viertlbeck.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday from 2-8 p.m., at the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Avenue, (between Secor and Douglas Roads) , where a scripture service will begin at 7 p.m. Friends may also visit on Friday from 10 a.m. until the funeral mass at 11 a.m., at Regina Coeli Church, 530 Regina Parkway. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2500 N Reynolds Road, Toledo, OH, 43615.
