Obituary for Leo Campbell

Leo Campbell
Leo Campbell, 89, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday December 15th, 3 months after having a stroke. He grew up in Toledo, and was a proud graduate of Libbey High School Class of 1946, and the University of Toledo. Leo worked as a structural engineer for Owens-Illinois for many years, including projects at Portside, Brockport, NY, Rockingham, NC, and Shreveport, LA. He and his wife June were longtime supporters of the Most Blessed Sacrament Church in West Toledo. And until her death in 1989, their summers were spent with family - boating, fishing and gardening at the cottage at Lake LeAnn, in Michigan.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents, Florence and Herbert Campbell; wife, June (Severin) Campbell; daughter, Diane Pobst; sister, Helen Jones; brothers, Frank and Paul Campbell; brother-in-law, James Behrendt, and special companion, Evelyn Andray.

He is survived by sisters, Mary Behrendt and Dorothy (Kenny) Fuss; brother-in-law, Dwight Jones; sisters-in-law, Libby Campbell and Jeanne Campbell; and special friend, Clydah Wagner; daughters, Debra (Jeff) Halsey, Colleen (Jason) Radak, Ellen (Patrick) Quinlan; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Leo’s patience, humor, and devotion to the Catholic Church were an example for everyone who knew him.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, December 23rd, from 10 a.m. until the funeral mass at 11 a.m., at the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 2240 Castlewood Drive, Toledo. The family would like to thank all of Leo’s caregivers at Waterford at Levis Commons, Otterbein Skilled Nursing, and Kingston of Perrysburg for their kindness and support during his illness.
